Save Me is a Korean show that I had recently watched. This show had a famous Bloodhounds star Woo Do-hwan, so instantly I had to watch it.
The show is about a girl and her family who move to a small town. The girls father looks for work and is met with a kind farmer who lets them live their, not knowing that it is because of the secret church that is a secret cult, that has and runs connections all through the town. The cult leader set this up so that he could bring the family in. By a sinister turn of events, the brother of Sang-Mi, which is the main girl, dies and the parents go nuts.
Seeing this turn of craziness, the cult leader offers care and aid. He takes in the crazy mother who sees ghosts and the father who took some spiked water by the church leader and begins thinking the leader is the one and true leader of everything.
During this and before the time cut, there is a group of friends who go to school and meet
Sang-Mi, and try to help her. Woos character and his friend are the main guys in the group. Woos character has nothing and his dad is a drunk, and his friend who is played by Ok Taec-yeon is the son of a Governor, who is corrupt and tried to kill his wife, and told his son to not do anything, however due to the outside he has more power.
Before Sang-Mi's brothers death, Woo asks Ok to come and help protect him, but he doesn't due to his father wanting him to stay out of trouble, and promising to help his mother out of her coma if he does.
To sum it up: Woo's character goes to jail because of what happened with Sang-Mi's brother and his situation. Then he gets out after years of suffering. The whole gang reunites and finds out the cult leader wants to marry Sang-Mi, and is grooming her for the right moment. The group go and try to stop the whole cult.
Do they stop them? Will they die? Get tortured? or save her? i wont be that guy and spoil the ending, go watch it for yourself. : )
Now, this show was great do not get me wrong, however it has its flaws, it was so long and had me wanting more, but it had a really cool story to it. The characters were amazing and were truly conveyed in the most authentic way. The plot annoyed me so much, because Sang-Mi, could have so easily escaped so many times, but instead she decided, no no no, I shall wait and then knock out the leader. on the side note she, did try to escape and it was because of her mother, that she stayed. She went to the cops, but the fact that even the cops didn't believe her. "Hey I am a full grown adult, can you help me from these kidnappers?" the cops full on said nahhh, possibly because of the drinks, or because of the money the church gave.
The fact that Sang-Mi, did not just pretend from the start and how she had to act all, you guys suck, is also so stupid because if she kept doing that, he would have groomed her sooner and also her father would have turned more on her. in fairness, I guess she is in such a random situation. And she was burdened by her mother.
I did not think I was a K Drama person, but watching this, and also lately, I feel like I am. This show is genuinely amazing in hindsight, and had amazing acting. I cannot describe everything because their is so much. Watch this show, go give love to the cast and crew, and be prepared to feel something... Mostly annoyed haha.
This movie is very hard to find due to restrictions and other things, but if you go on YouTube you can watch an episode or 2.
